Insect-A-Shield

Insect-A-Shield is an alternative to the standard insecticides that are used today. It is largely consists of diatomaceous earth. It is, therefore, completely harmless to humans and animals. It also contains Phrethrum which comes from chrysanthemums grown in Kenya and Ecuador. Pyrethrum is a digestible vegetable extract and is one of the oldest naturally occurring insecticides known to man. It is highly lethal to insects. Insect-A-Shield also contains Piperonyl butoxide which is another vegetable extract that is an effective insecticide. These three ingredients make Insect-A-Shield an almost all-purpose insecticide. We've never seen a bug it won't kill!

Why use Insect-A-Shield insecticides?

The wide spread use of commercial insecticides ins causing a problem with contamination of our water supply. Insect-A-Shield is a safe alternative to these harmful chemicals while doing a better of job of killing insects of many varieties. After all, we are responsible to be good stewards of our planet. Doesn't it just make sense to use a product that won't harm our planet, especially if it can give us better results? Insect-A-Shield is the natural and safe choice for insect control.

How does Insect-A-Shield work?

Insect-A-Shield is a powder that sticks to insects. It contains microscopic spikes that penetrate the insect's exoskeleton. Then there are other ingredients that dehydrate on the inside of the insect. The average time for an insect to be immobilized is approximately 5-10 minutes.

Insect-A-Shield comes in several varieties and sizes. The individual products are listed below.

Household 

This variety is effective against roaches, silverfish, ants, flies, bedbugs, fleas, box elder bugs, and many others. It comes in a 5 oz. puffer bottle, and 1 pound bag. Application - It is best applied with the puffer bottle. Locate the area of infestation or insect traffic. Lightly dust the paths the insects take. 

Garden and Plant 

This variety is effective against aphids, whitefly, beetles, loopers, mites, leaf hoppers, and others! For use in greenhouse or outdoors on fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains and grass up to and including the day of harvest. It comes in a 5 oz. puffer bottle, 2 pound bag. Application - The goal is to get coverage over the entire plant, especially under the leaves. Indoors, apply the product with the 5 oz. puffer, dusting the plants. For small outdoors gardens, you can also apply with the puffer. For larger gardens, a good dust applicator is essential, and should be equipped with electronic nozzles, which put a negative charge on the dust. Since the plant is positive, the powder adheres to it and provides a protective barrier against insects. Wind is not a problem since since the dust particles are charge with a negative charge and they hold to the positively charged plants. Water will wash away the product. It is best to apply when the plants are dry. For young plants, as little as two pounds per acre may be sufficient. For larger plants, five lbs/acre is probably sufficient.

Pet and Animal 

This variety is effective against fleas, tics, lice, and other pests on pet dogs, cats, their premises, and other warm blooded animals subject to these parasites. It may be applied to the animals and to their sleeping areas. It comes in a 5 oz. puffer bottle, and 2 pound bag. Application - Lightly work the material into the hair of the animal. Use brush or comb to work the material down to the skin. Pay strict attention to places where the animal cannot reach, such as the scalp. Dust the ears of the animal with care. Dust the animal's bedding and areas where the animal sleeps, as well as cracks and crevices adjacent to them. Repeat once a month or as necessary. Individual ticks observed on the animal should be dusted thoroughly. Reapply after bathing pet on dry fur as a preventative. For animals confined to a specific area infested with fleas and ticks, dust the entire area. Use any hand application designed for the purpose of discharging powder. If using a small lawn fertilizer spreader, mix equal parts of dry sand with Insect-A-Shield Pet & Animal Insecticide for even flow. Dust thoroughly the first time and then periodically reapply as needed.

Fire Ant 

This variety is effective against fire ants and a great many other insects. It comes in a 5 oz. puffer bottle. Application - Dry Powder: Stir the mound with a rake or other tool, agitating the ants. Apply dust liberally on the immediate area, contacting as many ants as possible. Repeat if needed for final results. Wet Application: Use one-half cup with one tablespoon of a mild detergent per gallon of water. Saturate the mound or bed with the entire gallon of mixture. This should kill the queen and other ants in the mound. Repeat if necessary.

Commercial

This variety is the same as the Garden and Plant. It comes in a 30 pound bag. Application -

Grain Storage 

This variety is formulated and packaged for use in grain bins or silos prior to being filled with grain. It can also be used to "top dress" bags of grain in flat storage. It comes in 5 and 50 pound bags. Application - As a preventative measure, apply a liberal dusting to bins and silos BEFORE storing grain. This will set a parameter of insects to come in contact with. Where bags of grain are concerned, apply liberally on the bags to establish a parameter for insects to come in contact with. 

Fossil Shell Flour

This variety is used as a safe additive for anti-caking to animal feeds. It keeps the food particles separate (no clumping) so that the surface area exposed to the digestive process is increased. Thus more feed is digested and utilized. It comes in 10 and 50 pound bags. Application - One cup of product will protect 50 pounds of feed.  One pound (6 cups) will protect 300 pounds of feed. A 5 pound bag will protect 1500 pounds of feed. Mix thoroughly and store as usual. The product is safe and aids in digestion.
